Evaluation of Creativity in Design in the Context of “Brainstorming”

Abstract

The process of obtaining a product, object or idea is considered the most important part of the design work, and the methods and techniques used to obtain the design product are a common subject of many disciplines. Brainstorming is also an important technique used for the act of designing. This method is one of the key models that best explains why and how a problem needs to be solved. As the design process is based on creativity and innovation, this method is also quite effective in architectural practice. 

In this context, the study addresses the relationship between the method used in the architectural product creation process and the Brainstorming method. The study relates the objectives and methods of architectural design processes to the Brainstorming method, aiming to establish a key model for the development of personal creativity. The conceptual framework of the study consists of a literature review of the areas and techniques in which brainstorming is used and the parameters in the architectural design process. The interpretation of the parameters used in two different disciplines, when integrated, reveals the findings of this study. In conclusion, it is anticipated that the evaluation of brainstorming methods, integrated with the criteria in architectural design parameters, will contribute to the production of higher quality products.
