THE ADEQUACIES OF TEACHER CANDIDATES RELATED TO THE APPLICATION OF DRAMA METHOD

Today, drama is used as a method in every stage of education to ensure active participation of students in the classroom. It is important that the qualification levels of the teacher candidates are known so that the drama can be applied in the desired quality. In this context, the aim of the research is to determine the qualification levels of teacher candidates related to application of the drama method and whether there are differences between these levels in terms of various variables. Fourth grade students studying in Computer and Instructional Technologies Teacher, Pre-school Teacher, Classroom Teacher, Social Studies Teacher and Turkish Language Teacher at Balıkesir University constitute the sample of the research. Within the scope of the research, 207 students have been reached. In this research, a screening model has been used from quantitative research methods."Teacher as the leader of drama" and "Educational Drama Application Qualification" scale developed by Karadağ, Çalışkan, Korkmaz and Yüksel (2008) has been used as a data collection mean. Frequency, percentage, independent sample t test, one way variance analysis and correlation analysis have been used in analyzing the data. Within the scope of the research, the following conclusions have been reached. • It has been determined that teacher candidates see themselves adequately in the topics of "adequacy of drama planning ", " adequacy of drama process application ", and "adequacy of drama process evaluation". • It has been determined that "adequacy of drama planning", "adequacy of drama process application" and "adequacy of drama process evaluation" of the candidate teachers have a significant difference in favor of women. • It has been determined that "adequacy of drama planning", "adequacy of drama process application" and "adequacy of drama process evaluation" of the teacher candidates have a significant difference according to the department studied them in university. • "Drama planning adequacy" of the teacher candidates has a moderate relationship between "the adequacy of drama process application" and "the adequacy of drama process evaluation" of the teacher candidates. • There is a high level of relationship between “adequacy of drama process application” and “adequacy of drama process evaluation” of teacher candidates.
