Abstract

Gossip is an important issue that exist in societies and causes many problems to arise. According to the degree of accuracy, it is a situation that injures and slanders individuals and institutions and causes them to be humiliated in front of the society, causing even families and institutions to dissolve. The speed and number of gossips, rumors which are not approved in religious terms, have been increasing more recently through social media. It causes environments of gossip, insecurity, chaos and injustice in business. Negative rumors cause financial and moral costs for business and employees. Of course, it may not possible to eliminate gossip completely. However, it will be useful to find ways to prevent unfair situations in businesses and turn gossip into an advantage. There is very little research on gossip in the literature. This article includes the evaluation of the positive and negative aspects of gossip for businesses.
