Abstract

Researches about the prestige of teachers and teachers both in our country and in many countries of the world are increasing day by day and different proposals have been made about raising the status of the teaching profession. This research; to reflect on the respectability of the teachers in the society, to respect the respectability of the teachers and to maintain the personal and social life. Qualitative data collection method in research. The research data were obtained with semi-structured interview form. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The study group of the study consisted of 40 teachers working in Batman province. According to the results of the research, the teachers' reputation in the society is "moderate". It can be said that the teachers see themselves in a position that shapes the future of the society and they see the costumes as an important factor in the respectability of the teachers. While student achievements, positive behavioral changes in students, and exemplary ethical attitudes and behavior exhibitions of teachers are positively affecting teacher dignity, the low wages of teachers, the wrong behavior of some teachers and the negative news in the media negatively affect the reputation.
